Buy a small rug online. Go and stand on a big one first.
That's the honest rule and it's nothing to do with trust. Under ₹15,000 and under 5x7 ft, photos tell you most of what you need. Above that you're committing to a piece of furniture that'll dominate a room for a decade, and screens get two things wrong every time. Scale, and colour.
In person or online
Scale is the bigger problem. A 6x9 rug looks enormous in a photo and small in a living room. Almost everyone who's ended up calling a rug "too small" bought it from a picture.
Colour is sneakier. Wool takes dye differently from viscose, and a deep wine or a slate blue shifts under warm light. A carpet shot under showroom lights and then viewed on your phone has been through two colour translations before it reaches your eye.
What online does better is range. We hold far more on the site than fits on a showroom floor, so if you already know your size and your colour family, ordering online is quicker and no riskier.
What to look at in a showroom
Walk on it. Barefoot if you can. Half of what makes a carpet right is how it feels, and nobody's ever photographed that.
Turn a corner over. The back tells you how it was made. Hand knotted work shows the pattern through, machine made looks printed. Takes four seconds and tells you more than the label does.
Press your thumb into the pile and lift it. Good density springs straight back. Thin pile holds the dent, which is exactly what it'll do under a sofa leg.
Look at it from the far side of the room. You see carpets at a distance far more than up close, and a pattern that's lovely at arm's length can look busy from the doorway.
Get it near a door and look at it in daylight if you can. Showroom lighting is warm and flattering. Your living room probably isn't.
What to ask before you buy
What's the pile material, and is it pure or a blend? "Silk" and "silk blend" are very different things at very different prices.
What's the backing, and is it anti skid? On tile or marble this matters more than anything else on the list.
Can it be made in my size, and what does that add? Custom sizing is normal and usually costs less than people expect.
How does it ship, and what happens if it doesn't fit? Get that answer before you pay, not after.
How do I clean it? Some pieces you can vacuum at home and some need professional cleaning, and you want to know which before it's on your floor.

Come with your room measurements and a photo of the space. Both help far more than a description. And if you can bring a cushion or a bit of curtain fabric, that beats trying to describe a colour.
Delivery, in Kolkata and beyond
We deliver across Kolkata and ship pan India. Rolled, never folded. A folded carpet arrives with creases that take weeks to settle and sometimes never fully do.
For anything large, measure your stairwell and your doorway before ordering. A rolled 9x12 is an awkward object and a tight turn on a landing is a genuine problem. Two minute check, saves a bad afternoon.
Custom sizes
Most of what we make can be made to your measurement. Worth doing if your room isn't a standard rectangle, if you want the carpet to stop at a particular line, or if a stock size leaves you an odd margin down one side.
