How Much Does Artificial Grass Cost in India?

What artificial grass costs in India, from Rs 42 per sq ft for 25mm up to Rs 85 for 50mm. A worked example for a balcony, and what the price...

Artificial grass in India costs between ₹42 and ₹85 per square foot. What you pay comes down to pile height. 25mm sits at ₹42 to ₹45, 35mm at ₹50 to ₹55, 40mm at ₹56 to ₹60, and 50mm runs ₹57 to ₹85. A 10 by 12 ft balcony in 25mm works out at roughly ₹5,040.

That's the whole answer. The rest of this just explains why the range is so wide, so you can work out your own number instead of guessing.

What artificial grass costs per square foot

Most sites quoting grass prices in India either hide the number behind an enquiry form, or give you a range so broad it tells you nothing. Here's ours, by pile height, across every size we stock.

The gap inside each band is about width and cut size, not quality. A 6.5 ft roll costs slightly less per square foot than a 2.5 ft one, because there's less waste when we cut it.

What moves the price

Pile height does most of the work. Everything else shifts it by a few rupees.

Pile height. That's the length of the grass blade in millimetres. More material, higher price. Going from 25mm to 50mm roughly doubles what you pay.

Width. We cut in 2.5 ft, 3.3 ft, 4 ft and 6.5 ft, in lengths up to 83 ft. Pick the width that divides into your space cleanly. A 10 ft balcony takes two 4 ft strips and one 2.5 ft far more cheaply than it takes a 6.5 ft roll plus the bit you throw away.

Density. Ours is all 100% polypropylene with a high stitch count. We don't do a thin economy line, which is why the range starts at ₹42 and not ₹20. Cheap grass is out there. It goes flat in a season and the backing turns brittle in Indian sun.

Price by pile height

25mm, ₹42 to ₹45 per sq ft

This is the balcony one. Thin enough that your door still swings over it, soft enough to sit on. If you're covering a small outdoor space and you want it to look green rather than look like a lawn, buy this. It's also the right call for a walkway or a terrace edge.

35mm, ₹50 to ₹55 per sq ft

Our middle option, and the one we'd put in our own homes. Tall enough to read as grass when you're standing over it, short enough to bounce back after people walk on it. If you can't decide, just buy this one.

40mm, ₹56 to ₹60 per sq ft

Gardens, and anywhere kids actually play. That extra 5mm over 35mm is all cushioning, and you feel it underfoot straight away. Worth it if the space gets real use rather than the occasional visit.

50mm, ₹57 to ₹85 per sq ft

This is proper lawn replacement. At 50mm the blades are long enough to move and catch the light the way real grass does. The price range is wide because the premium cuts use a multi tone blade that costs more to make.

People ask us constantly whether 50mm is worth nearly double 25mm. For a balcony, no. For a garden you stare at from inside the house every day, yes, and nobody who's bought it has told us otherwise.

Worked example: a 10 by 12 ft balcony

Say your balcony is 10 ft by 12 ft. That's 120 square feet.

25mm: 120 × ₹42 = ₹5,040

35mm: 120 × ₹50 = ₹6,000

40mm: 120 × ₹56 = ₹6,720

50mm: 120 × ₹57 = ₹6,840

Now pick your width. Three strips of 4 ft give you exactly 12 ft with nothing left over. Two strips of 6.5 ft give you 13 ft, so you've paid for a foot that goes in the bin.

And measure the actual space, not the floor plan. Balconies are hardly ever square, and the drain is always somewhere annoying.

What's included, what isn't

The price covers the grass, cut to your size, delivered. It doesn't cover adhesive, joining tape or labour.

Most balcony and terrace jobs don't need adhesive at all. Once it's cut to the edges the grass is heavy enough to sit flat on its own, which is genuinely better if you're renting and can't drill or glue anything. Bigger gardens with seams in them do need joining tape.

We do offer installation. But for anything under about 200 sq ft on a flat surface, you really don't need us. It's a sharp knife and an afternoon.

Is cheap grass a false economy?

Usually yes, though not for the reason you'd think. It isn't the blades that give up first. It's the backing. Thin latex backing in direct Indian sun goes brittle inside two summers, and once it cracks the whole piece has to come up. You can't patch it.

So ask whoever you're buying from what the backing is and what the warranty actually covers. If all they want to talk about is pile height, that tells you something.

Frequently asked questions

How much does artificial grass cost per square foot in India?
Between ₹42 and ₹85 per square foot, depending on pile height. 25mm starts at ₹42, 35mm at ₹50, 40mm at ₹56, and 50mm runs from ₹57 up to ₹85 for the premium multi tone cuts.

Is thicker artificial grass worth the extra cost?
For a garden you look at every day, yes. 40mm and 50mm genuinely pass for real grass and they're softer underfoot. For a balcony or a walkway, no. 25mm costs about half and looks the same in a small space.

How much grass do I need for a 10 by 12 ft balcony?
120 square feet, which is about ₹5,040 at 25mm. Buy it as three 4 ft strips rather than two 6.5 ft ones, because 4 ft divides into 12 ft exactly and you waste nothing.

Does the price include installation?
No. The rate covers the grass cut to size and delivered. Installation is separate, and most balconies and terraces under 200 sq ft don't need it anyway, since the grass lies flat on its own once it's cut to the edges.
